Vita / Lebenslauf:
Born and raised in Syria, I moved to the US at the age of twenty-three.
I acquired a degree in fine arts (BFA) from William Paterson University of New Jersey 2006. Currently preparing for Masters in Fine arts and working as a graphic/web designer.

My work is a painterly diary of beloved memories, bitter and sweet, old and recent. Ranging from the first time I went to an art exhibit with my father as a child, to the time of 1982 war to pre-immigrations goodbyes, post immigration nostalgia as well as examination of my daily life at the present.

I think today, more than ever, in the age of terrible calamities being committed under the name of religion. Xenophobia is the elephant in the room, hiding inside everyone’s sleeves.

Fear of the other, who believes differently (or sometimes the same), or dresses differently, is an obstacle that I don’t claim to be able to remove; all I can offer is a rendition of my human experience. A visual diary of a pacifist woman, who has always been the odd one out and always believed in being a global citizen.
